What to Expect
Our genetic counseling services provide essential information and support for individuals and families dealing with genetic conditions or who may have a higher chance for a genetic condition. During a 45-60 minute telehealth session, our genetic counselor will assess your chances by collecting family and medical histories and discussing the possibility of genetic testing if appropriate. We provide detailed information about specific genetic conditions, explain basic genetic concepts, and discuss available testing options.
Our counselor offers emotional support, assists with decision-making, and can connect you with additional resources as needed. Depending on the genetic testing results, if any are ordered, an additional consultation may be necessary to fully interpret the results and plan for future management or prevention strategies. There is NO CHARGE for this results consultation. Our goal is to ensure you understand your genetic health and feel supported in making informed decisions about your care.
When scheduling, you’ll select broadly what you’re hoping to discuss. If there is more than one topic, simply choose what is the most relevant and know that we will be able to discuss everything. You will be sent a link to join our HIPAA compliant telehealth service. We will send you some intake forms to gather more information to prepare ahead of time.
We offer self-pay services at a flat rate. You will NOT be charged until after the appointment:
- $144.00 (plus a processing fees): This applies to all traditional indications (connective tissue disorders, prenatal, cancer, pediatrics…) and includes the initial consultation as well as one results session, if needed. Any genetic testing that is ordered will be processed through your insurance.
OR - $179.00 (plus processing fees): Applies ONLY if you want us to review your direct-to-consumer (DTC) genetic testing results (e.g., 23andMe raw data). Because these results require additional time to review, we ask that you send your data two weeks in advance. Any genetic testing that is ordered will be processed through your insurance.
We do not accept insurance at this time. However, we can provide a superbill after your appointment that you may submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. If you qualify for Medicaid, you may be eligible for a small discount.
